Southeast Michigan’s University Research Corridor, which includes Wayne State University, Michigan State University and University of Michigan, is ranked second in National Innovation Power Rankings behind only southern California. Not only has Michigan set some of the most rigorous high school graduation standards in the United States, it is also home to a public university system with 15 quality and affordable institutions, including the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University.

The University of Michigan includes 19 schools and colleges covering liberal arts and sciences, as well as most professions, for a total of 250 degree programs. ­The faculty includes over 3,000 individuals who are tenured or on a tenure track. Lecturers, clinical faculty, research professors, librarians and archivists add over another 4,000 to the Ann Arbor campus faculty staff. According to U.S. News & World Report, the University of Michigan consistently ranks in the top five public universities.

Michigan State University is located in East Lansing, just three miles east of the capital of Michigan in Lansing. Its 5,200-acre campus includes 545 buildings, including 103 with academic or instructional space. The university includes approximately 19,600 acres throughout the state that is used for agricultural and natural resources research and education. The university offers more than 200 programs of undergraduate, graduate and professional study. One of the top research universities in the world, federal funding for university research comes from agencies such as the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice.

Located in Midtown Detroit, Wayne State University is attended by more than 27,000 students from every state and 70 countries. On campus, students will find 200 acres of green space, walking paths and state-of the art facilities surrounded by the renowned cultural institutions and industry-leading employers of Detroit. Beyond a location in the heart of the city, Wayne State University is also ranked in the top 0.8 percent of universities worldwide according to the Center for World University Rankings.

In addition to these universities, the Michigan Community College System touches every community in Michigan through its 28 public community colleges. Its entrepreneurial centers of excellence include the Center for Student Success, the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative, the Michigan New Jobs Training Program and a Center for Global Initiatives.
