Detroit Economic Growth Corporation appoints Madison Schillig as new program director for Motor City Match

MARCH 19, 2023 (DETROIT) – The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC) has announced the appointment of Madison Schillig as the new Program Director for Motor City Match, effective immediately. Schillig will succeed former Program Manager Andrew Lucco.

Schillig joined the Motor City Match team in 2021 as the Design Track Coordinator. In this position, she partnered with architects and engineers to develop plans that helped business owners work towards building out their brick-and-mortar spaces. Schillig has been running the Restore Track as the Façade Improvement Manager for the past seven months, demonstrating her leadership skills and commitment to the program.

“We are thrilled to have Madison step into the role of Program Director for Motor City Match,” said DEGC Vice President of Small Business Services Sean Gray. “Her dedication, expertise and passion for supporting small businesses in Detroit make her the perfect fit for this position. We are confident that Motor City Match will continue to thrive under her leadership and positively impact the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

Schillig’s passion for Motor City Match dates to 2017 when, as part of the Challenge Detroit fellowship program, she worked on a project with the program for about six weeks, with Lucco as her project liaison. This experience solidified her commitment to Motor City Match’s mission of supporting small businesses in Detroit by providing financial support, technical assistance and resources to help them grow.

“I am incredibly excited and honored to step into the role of Program Director for Motor City Match,” said Schillig. “Having been a part of this amazing team since 2021, I have witnessed firsthand the program’s positive impact on the small business community in Detroit. I look forward to working closely with our talented team and partners to build upon the success of Motor City Match and create even more opportunities for growth and development in our city.”

Schillig earned her degree in urban planning with a specialization in urban design from the University of Cincinnati in 2017. Upon graduation, she moved to Detroit to participate in the Challenge Detroit fellowship program, which aimed to attract and retain young professionals in the city by connecting them with opportunities to work and make a difference.
