AUGUST 30, 2023 (DETROIT) – New Jersey-based CURE Auto Insurance celebrated the grand opening of its new Michigan headquarters in Detroit with much fanfare and a ribbon-cutting at 200 Walker Street on Wednesday afternoon. This is the company’s first physical location since entering the Michigan auto insurance market in July 2021. Among those in attendance were CURE CEO Eric S. Poe, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Kevin Johnson, president & CEO of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Detroit Council President Council President Mary Sheffield and Ivy Greaner, chief operating officer for Bedrock. CURE's new office is housed within the former training center of General Motors and the United Auto Workers (UAW), now under the ownership of Bedrock. The DEGC and Detroit at Work played pivotal roles in attracting the company to Detroit, providing essential site assistance and talent support. "When CURE auto insurance announced it was coming to Michigan, we knew we wanted them here in Detroit,” said Duggan. “The teams at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and Detroit at Work got busy making it happen and today, we're proud to be celebrating CURE's first Michigan location, right here in the City of Detroit where they are hiring and serving Detroiters." The office currently houses 60 employees, with plans to expand to 100 over the next two years. The anticipated growth can be attributed to the 2019 no-fault auto insurance reform in Michigan, which has improved access to affordable car insurance for residents. Additionally, CURE's policy of omitting credit checks when determining plan pricing further enhances accessibility to car insurance, benefiting a wider spectrum of drivers. “I’m thrilled to see the work our team and partners have done has culminated to this moment we are sharing right now,” said Johnson. “On behalf of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, I want to thank CURE Auto Insurance for investing in Detroit. By growing your business here, we will grow together.” CURE insures approximately 75,000 cars in Michigan, with 58% of those drivers being residents of Detroit. Of the CURE-insured drivers, 94% have taken advantage of the new No-Fault PIP options. The average savings per policy is approximately 41%. “Opening our office in Detroit should be proof to all Michiganders we are committed to the city and the state. If it was not for the cooperation of both the Mayor's Office and Bedrock, we would not have been able to make this day happen," said Poe. “While we considered a number of locations, including several in the suburbs, we were always drawn back to downtown Detroit. We believe in this city, its residents and the various organizations that make their home here. This new office brings job opportunities to a city on the rise.” ### Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC) Detroit Economic Growth Corporation is a non-profit organization that serves as Detroit’s lead implementing agency for business retention, attraction and economic development.
